At the request of “Châteauroux Métropole”, “les Amis de La Martinerie” welcomed Gil Avérous, president of the of “Châteauroux Métropole”, his collaborators, local representatives and the companies involved in the project, for the presentation of the novel solar parks located in the southern section of the base.

With 87552 panels for an overall capacity of 30MWc, the first two parks will be put in action early 2021. BayWa r.e.’s managerial team also presented their plans for a third park that would, by 2023, produce enough power for 17,000 people.

Before the construction started, BayWa r.e. let our volunteers take parts of an old American quonset hut to rebuild it near the “maison de la Memoire”. They also let us search for items that would have been left on the base by former US occupants.
