Wednesday August 9, 2023, Bernard Girard, the last departmental president of the “Fédération Nationale des Mutilés et Réformés Militaires”, accompanied by Mrs Andrée ALIBERT, secretary and treasurer of the federation and of the Indre committee, were present at La Martinerie to sign the agreement regarding the donation of the flag of the federation and the Indre committee.
This federation was created to bring together the departmental sections within a national framework.
Its mission was to advise and help members to assert and safeguard their rights, to help its members with administrative procedures.
The departmental sections welcomed, as active members:
- Disabled military beneficiaries of the Pensions Act of March 31, 1919 and subsequent laws.
- Civilian victims of acts of war terrorism.
- Disabled military personnel likely to claim their right to a military disability pension.
- Widows, orphans, ascendants of military invalids.
The Indre section was created in the early 1920s, the flag that was given to “les Amis de La Martinerie” dates from 1927.
In 1991 the federal headquarters was transferred to Châteauroux under the chairmanship of Robert AUGUET, then to Toulouse in 2011 under the chairmanship of Jean MENGUY.
The federation and the departmental sections were dissolved on October 29, 2022 in Châteauroux.
“Les Amis de La Martinerie” would like to thank Bernard Girard and his members for their trust. This flag, like all those kept in “la maison départementale de la mémoire militaire”, may be displayed during a patriotic event at the request of the president or his representative.
