On Friday, September 24th, 2021, was inaugurated an 85 acres solar park in the south zone.
This park was built and will be managed by BayWa r.e.
This company is a partner of “Les Amis de La Martinerie”, along with Châteauroux Métropole, in the reconstruction of a Quonset hut (A prefabricated structure from the “Tent City” era).
In his allocution, Gil Avérous, President of Châteauroux Métropole and mayor of Châteauroux, discussed this project at length
“A project for which a considerable amount of upstream work was required. Thus, during the decontamination of the lot, several military relics were discovered. If, unfortunately, the prefabricated barracks were damaged during a storm, just a day after their discovery, BayWa r.e. decide to sponsor the construction of a Quonset hut next to “la Maison départementale de la mémoire militaire”. Overall, a tripartite financing between, BayWa r.e., the association and Châteauroux Métropole will be responsible for building the concrete slab required for the prefabricated structure.
A support greatly appreciated by the association’s president, Jean-Jacques Bérenguier. An active association working hand in hand with BayWa r.e. to create new boards relating the history of both the military camp and the solar park.”
