On Wednesday, April 18, 2026, the signing of an agreement was scheduled at La Martinerie for the handover of the COMTE Battalion flag.
This battalion was formed in June 1944 through the merger of the Northern Indre “Maquis”commanded by Lieutenant "Pauline" (a female SOE agent) and the Vatan “Maquis”, commanded by Captain Pérot (alias "COMTE").
This agreement was to be signed with “Les Amis de La Martinerie” by Mr. Jean-Pierre CHENE, Mayor of Moulins-sur-Céphons (in the Indre department), and by Ms. Christiane VIALLE-LESSAULT, daughter of André LESSAULT, the Battalion’s final standard-bearer.
Just prior to the signing of this agreement, a surprise awaited us: the Mayor of Moulins-sur-Céphons also entrusted us with the flag of his commune’s FFI (French Forces of the Interior) section.
These represent the 30th and 31st flags to be displayed within the Departmental House of Military Memory, located on the La Martinerie site.
