For the past four years, “les Amis de La Martinerie” have had the pleasure of welcoming the Indre Gendarmerie Cadets as part of their mission to preserve military memory in the Indre department.
After participating in the raising of the colors, the cadets were welcomed by Jean-Jacques, who introduced them to the history of the La Martinerie base. Divided into three groups, led by Dominique, Philippe, and Roland, the cadets were able to explore the 10 exhibition rooms and learn about the importance of preserving military memory. After a light meal, the cadets, still in three groups, were able to attend first aid training given by Savéria of the FFSS, learn the ranks of the Gendarmerie with Pierre, and finally discover and use the phonetic alphabet with Bruno and Morse code with Philippe.
After a well-deserved break, they practiced the Marseillaise with Véronique and Jean-François and perfected their marching skills. The day was concluded with the lowering of the colors.
A day enjoyed by all participants, by the cadets, as evidenced by the guestbook, by Paulette, Claudie, Jean-Jacques G, and Pierre, the cadet supervisors, as well as by the volunteers of “les Amis de La Martinerie”. We should soon be seeing the cadets again for the orienteering race, for which “les Amis de La Martinerie” will be providing some of the logistics, as well as for the cleaning of veterans' graves with the Souvenir Français.
