The music of the Foreign Legion concert scheduled in Châteauroux on Sunday October 16 was an opportunity to combine this event with another, more important for a legionnaire: the presentation of the white kepi to the latest recruits.
It is in the Brenne region that the young volunteers of the 4th RE of Castelnaudary carried out the scheduled walk at the end of their first month of training, a 50 km walk prior to this delivery of Kepi.
This presentation of the Kepi, which marks the official entry into the Legion, took place in Châteauroux on Saturday, October 15, a moment of emotion for all the participants.
On Sunday morning, the new legionnaires were welcomed into “la maison départementale de la mémoire militaire” by Marie, Frédéric, Jean-Jacques and Roland for a memorial visit.
We reminded them, among other things:
- the epic of Eugène Jacques BULARD, of American origin, legionnaire in 1915, WW1 hero who passed by the flying school of La Martinerie and was seriously injured in 1940;
- the baptism of the Equipment EVSO from the class of 81-82, which took the name of a legionnaire ": promotion A/C CAZEAUX";
- and, more recently, the creation of a stele by Frédéric for the “Centre d’Hébergement et d’accueil de la Légion étrangère”.
