The plaque commemorating the presence of the US troops on the “La Martinerie” base is back.

Made out of bronze, and doomed to eventually disappear, this commemorative plaque offered by the US Air Force to the people of the Indre department was moved to a new location.

The original plaque (photo 1) is now placed in one of our display cases within the “maison départementale de la mémoire militaire”, in our room dedicated to the presence of the US troops on the “La Martinerie” base (photo 2).

It was replaced by a 3D printed copy, achieved by one of the “Ecole du Matériel” of Bourges’s executives, based on a proposition of General Baldi, who was, back then, commandant of the Military School of Bourges.

The plaque was first secured on a slab of marble offered by Philippe Dubois (photo 3) and then, after a couple of adjustment done by Dominique (photo 4), the whole thing was fastened onto its original rock (photo 5)
