At the request of numerous authors, “Les Amis de La Martinerie” regularly collaborate to conduct local research, specifically tailored to these authors' needs, or to provide a wide range of archival documents.
In this capacity, we assisted Vincent Métral in his research regarding the existence of the "Les Jeunes Ailes" summer camp. Located in the hamlet of Les Salles (within the commune of Saint-Jeoire-en-Faucigny), this camp was established to host the children of French civilians working at the American bases in La Martinerie and Déols, a group that also included a number of American children during 1965 and 1966.
We also assisted Pierre-Alain Antoine, Pierre Labrude, and Fabrice Loubette in the writing of the fourth and final volume of their series, “Les Américains en France” (The Americans in France), a 280-page publication.
The three central themes explored in this work are:
Working for the Americans.
Secondary Air Bases - the US Army's 6th Fleet.
Planned Departure, Improvised Departure: NEO and FRELOC.
Within the first of these themes, a significant number of pages are dedicated specifically to the Châteauroux-Déols base.
Both of these works will soon be available for consultation at the “Les Amis de La Martinerie” premises; however, they will not be available for loan.
